Andrea Metcalf is a mixed media collage artist from Upstate, NY. Her Folk Art has been internationally collected and sold via E-bay for 5 years, but she has now moved to Etsy.com and feels it is a much friendlier marketplace. Metcalf is focusing on internet sales in 2009 since it is sometimes hard to travel for shows with her two children.
Metcalf says,
"I am inspired by antiques, particularly textiles--yo-yo quilts, penny rugs, and the like. My choice of subject matter is primitive in nature (crows, houses, flowers, etc.) and my art style might be classified as "naive/primitive". (I call it "grubby-prim" because I antique the heck out of each piece, working the medium, to give it an even more primitive look.) All my art is done with acrylic paint and acid-free paper. Then details are worked in with pen and I use a matte varnish for preservation purposes."
Melcalf's artwork featured on this page are among her favorites. She has a webpage on Etsy.com where her current work can be viewed. To learn more about this artist and view her artwork please visit primsbyandrea
