Kristian Talley is a young artist from Leucadia, California. Although he is only 16 his artwork expresses an energy and rich texture reminiscent of Van Gogh. Talley's artwork strives to express the timeless elements of the human condition (conveyed directly or indirectly, through myth or intended exaggeration) essentially found throughout folk art of all genres.
Talley describes his influences,"Folk art, stories, and music of all sorts have been a driving interest behind my artwork, I have been creating music and writing for a long time now. I feel that "folk" expression captures a more authentic, timeless and down to earth aspect of the human psychology. My interest was reinvigorated through the understanding of Carl Jung's theory of psychological archetypes and how his works were based a great deal off his observations of folk lore and art. I hope upon further examination, and the knowledge of my intention; an interpreted "folk" feel is perceived within my work."
Kristian Talley currently works mainly with variations of fine pens, acrylic inks and slight water colour washes. His images convey a deep concentration in the human psyche while plunging the viewer in the world and spirituality of the artist. To view Talley's current work visit Kristian Talley's online gallery.
