About Me

I am a Charlotte North Carolina native. I attended Western Carolina University and received my BFA in fine arts in 1994. My family and I are currently residing in Virginia Beach, Va.

I began working in oils at age 12 and it remains to be my medium of choice. However, I also use tempera, pastels and watercolor. Most of my artwork would be described as "Contemporary", but I have a strong interest in folk art and illustration.

I get most of my inspirations from my family, and try to express my personal experiences through my artwork. Since I am a mother of three, I paint portraits of children and use this as a topic for many of my paintings. Most of my art is done through commissions at this time, but I hope to start a new series of paintings for exhibition soon.

A few of my favorite artists include Philip Pearlstein, Lucien Freud and Chuck Close. I have always been fascinated with super realism, and am a great admirer of thses artists. Although my artwork cannot be labeled in this catagory, it has definitely influenced my direction.

I normally have art shows throughout the year, but because of our recent move I may not have a exhibition this year. I will update this page if that should change in the near future. Currently my art can only be viewed online.

I currently am the web administrator for this website. More of my art can be found on the "about page" and in the image rotation at the top of the "home page". I hope to create a place where artists can show their work and connect with buyers. Thanks for stopping by.
